Note from Board Chair Rachel Orf
Dear Friends and Partners,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am writing to share that Executive Director Kim Lutz has announced her retirement, effective April 30, 2027, after nearly seven years leading America’s Watershed Initiative (AWI).
Under Kim’s leadership, AWI has strengthened its work in science communications and mobilized partnerships across the watershed. The Board statement below highlights more of her accomplishments, and we are deeply grateful for her vision, dedication, and lasting legacy.
What this means for our partners:
AWI’s daily operations, programs, and strategic goals will continue as planned, and Kim will remain fully engaged in her role through April 30 to ensure a smooth handover. The Board has begun a transition process and will launch a comprehensive search for our next Executive Director in the coming weeks.
The job posting and search updates will be available on this page. We welcome your help in sharing the posting with potential candidates.
Thank you for your continued collaboration and shared commitment to our mission. If you have questions, please contact me at rachel.orf87@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Rachel Orf
Chair, Board of Directors
